The movie is quite different from the book. The movie left out a lot of the scenes that showed stereotypes about black people. My favorite scene from the movie is the court room setting when Tom Robinson is presenting his case. He tells the story about being in the Ewells house just like he did in the book. The character of Mayella was accurately portrayed during the trial and she looked just as disgusting as the book explained her being. The producers followed the book accurately during that part and really captured Tom and Mayellas emotions. The movie should include more explaination on Bob Ewells drinking problem because it really made the case. Other than that, the producer did a good job accurately portraying the trial of Tom Robinson.
I was disappointed in how the movie cut out so much like the first purchase, scout finding the gum, and explaining what Tom was guilty for. I'm glad that they cut out the deep chat between Jem and Atticus about the Tom Robinson trial because in the book, those few chapters were boring and unnecessary. The screenwriters could've also cut out the tree gifts because they weren't that important to the story. They were interesting, but could go without. I noticed that miss Maudie wasn't in the movie as much as she was in the book and Miss Caroline, Dolphus Rex, and Aunt Alexandra didn't even show up in the movie. Overall, I enjoyed the movie but I recommend that people read the book prior to watching it.
